Bradley Nelson elected to the AIMBE College of Fellows

Bradley Nelson, Professor of Robotics and Intelligent Systems at ETH Zurich, has been named a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE). He was honored for his pioneering contributions to microrobotics, nanorobotics and medical robotics, and their successful translation into commercial applications.

Congratulations to Dr. Quentin Boehler for the appointment as Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Robotics

Dr. Quentin Boehler, currently a Senior Researcher at our lab, has been appointed as Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Robotics in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering.

His research focuses on developing minimally invasive robotic systems for clinical applications, with a particular emphasis on magnetically actuated robotic systems. The aim of his research is to shape the medical technologies of the future with the help of robotics.

Clinically ready magnetic microrobots for targeted therapies

A challenge in designing microrobots is balancing biocompatibility, biodegradability, size, and magnetic properties required for precise control, as well as real-time tracking, efficient navigation, and robust drug-loading capabilities. Landers et al. designed a microrobotic system that combines electromagnetic navigation, a release catheter, and dissolvable drug-loaded capsules. They demonstrated precise navigation in human vasculature models and tracking and navigation in large animal models.

Highly Cited Researchers from D-MAVT - Prof. Brad Nelson, Prof. Maria Lukatskaya and Prof. André Bardow

Three researchers from the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT) – André Bardow, Maria Lukatskaya and Bradley Nelson – have been recognized as Highly Cited Researchers 2025. The award is presented annually by global information services provider Clarivate.
