Abderrahim Lahlahi

Abderrahim Lahlahi was born in Morocco in 1998 and grew up in Spain. He holds a Master’s degree in Applied Chemistry and Pharmacology, with a specialization in Advanced Materials, from the Universitat Jaume I (UJI). Since 2023, he has been pursuing his PhD in the Solid State Chemistry Research Group at UJI, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Juan B. Carda and co-supervision of Dr. Xermán de la Fuente (University of Zaragoza), supported by an FPI fellowship from the Generalitat Valenciana.

His research focuses on the functionalization of ceramic surfaces using inkjet printing and pulsed laser treatments to develop advanced optical, magnetic, photocatalytic, and photovoltaic properties. He has contributed to high-impact research projects such as Transparent photovoltaic finishes for obtaining safe, efficient, and clean energy through building envelopes and Bactericidal and sustainable ceramic laminates functionalized with metal clusters, among others related to ceramic and polymeric coatings.

In May 2025, Abderrahim began a research stay at ETH Zurich as a visiting PhD student in the Multi-Scale Robotics Lab (MSRL), further expanding his international collaboration and learning new thin-film deposition techniques.

In addition to his research activities, Abderrahim teaches Chemistry in the undergraduate programs of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, as well as in the Master’s program in Ceramic Technology at UJI. Outside of academia, he enjoys going to the gym, running, hiking, and sharing plenty of laughter with his colleagues.
