Govind Kaigala

Govind Kaigala leads a group that specialize in microfluidics, micro/nanofabrication and bioanalytical techniques. His research bridges engineering innovation and clinical applications, addressing unmet clinical needs to drive improvements in patient care. Along with the team, he is advancing quantitative approaches in biomedicine, with potential for impact in cancer research and precision medicine.  A particular focus of his lab has been on Biodevices for Quantitative Cancer Engineering with focus on profiling tumours, deconvolving cellular interactions, modeling tumours and customizing therapeutics.

Govind received his PhD in 2009 from the University of Alberta and had his post-doctoral training at Stanford University. In 2010, he joined the Research laboratory of IBM in Rueshlikon where he was a Staff Scientist in the area of Precision Diagnostics until 2022. He is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Biomedical Engineering at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada and a Senior Scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Center.
