Vitaly Pustovalov

Vitaly Pustovalov received his bachelor’s degree with honors in Biophysics from Lomonosov Moscow State University. He was deeply inspired by the idea of creating an autonomous artificial immune system. Therefore, his main focus was to investigate the immune cells’ function at the inflammation site. His bachelor thesis was dedicated to the modeling of chemically-driven locomotion of neutrophils in the vicinity of a thrombus.

He first joined Multi-Scale Robotics Lab during his master’s studies in Biomedical Engineering. Initially, he worked closely with Ph.D. students on the development of magnetically steerable microdevices for targeted drug delivery. He completed his master’s thesis on the development of a low-cost green synthesis of coated superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles as magnetic nano drivers. As a PhD student in the MSRL, Vitaly’s main focus will be on the creation of photocurable magnetoelectric inks for an innovative 3D printing technology.

In his free time, Vitaly can be found on a volleyball court, snowboarding in the mountains, or in the MSRL kitchen playing chess while enjoying vivid discussions with his colleagues.
