Florian Heemeyer

Florian was born in Freising, Germany, in 1994. After high school, he moved to Munich where he completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Technical University of Munich (TUM).

Florian gained initial research experience at the Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging at the Helmholtz Zentrum München, where he worked in the Machine Learning group and developed a machine learning-based approach to assess the quality of raw imaging data. During his studies, Florian had the opportunity to spend one semester abroad at the National Taiwan University (NTU) in Taipei. He completed his Master’s thesis in the Medical Robotics and Automation Laboratory at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where he worked on the automation of a guide wire robot using fluoroscopic feedback. After the completion of his Master’s degree, Florian worked in the AI Algorithms team at Snke OS before he joined MSRL in August 2021 to pursue a PhD.

His main research interests are medical robotics, machine learning and medical imaging.
